Cherrie Atilano

Agriculturist and UN Ambassador for Food Security and Nutrition

Cherrie Atilano's agriculture journey stems from her humble beginnings in Negros Occidental, where she learned about biointensive gardening at a young age. As she continued on that path, she took the initiative to teach farmers how to make the most of their produce. Today, after seeing tangible and impactful results, she is reaping parts of what she sowed with her advocacy. Her United Nations-recognized social enterprise and agribusiness, AGREA, has made significant milestones in empowering the grassroots and uplifting the lives of farmers, women, and the youth while strengthening and securing the future of the country's food systems.

But there are many more seeds to be planted and many more people to feed every day. Cherrie is relentless in her mission to stir conversations about food security and nutrition. She hopes to influence people to be self-sufficient and source food locally and sustainably. As they bridge the gap between the producer and the consumer, they inspire people to think about the food source and maximize the available resources.

Cultivating connections from farm to table

Passion meets purpose in Cherrie Atilano's work and advocacy. It has become one of her motivations to connect the disconnected ties that should be binding the farm as the food source and our tables as the destination.

It begins with shifting our perspectives and honoring each step it takes to put food on our table.

For Cherrie, shared meals evoke a sense of camaraderie. And with them comes the conscious effort of putting nutritious, sustainable food on our plates. When we value what we eat as a family and a community, we nurture a healthy relationship with food and are consequently moved to support local farmers.

As an agriculture activist, Cherrie Atilano's work involves close collaborations with farmers. She stands out as a leading advocate in recognizing and highlighting their contribution to society and the economy. With the laborious process of farming, we need to remember that produce matters; each fruit and vegetable equates to a farmer's dedication and hard work. By preserving food, we pay tribute to their efforts and ensure each ingredient is valued.

Sub-Zero shares this commitment to honor the source of our food. As a preservation specialist, the brand's refrigerators are equipped with pioneering features that help ensure food stays fresher for longer.

Sub-Zero's dual refrigeration system extends the shelf life of fresh produce by maintaining moist chilly air in the refrigerator and dry, frigid air in the freezer. Another innovation that keeps food fresher is the air purification system adapted from NASA technology, which removes odors and ethylene gas. With its precise temperature control, Sub-Zero maintains the ideal temperature for food to retain quality.
